Flamingos, Florida & A Little Bit of Magic

There are some experiences that just make you stop and smile.

This week, I visited Sarasota Jungle Gardens — and I got to do something that still feels a little unbelievable… I fed flamingos by hand.
Not just a quick toss of food.
Not just a photo opportunity.
But truly visit-with-them, stand-among-them, laugh-while-they-nibble kind of time.
And yes — it was every bit as fabulous as you would imagine.

Flamingos Are Pure Joy

If you’ve been around my world for any length of time, you know flamingos have always been part of my brand. The pink. The personality. The confidence. The little bit of flair.
Standing there surrounded by them felt like stepping inside my own logo.
They’re curious.
They’re social.
They’re a little dramatic.
And completely unforgettable.
One minute they’re gently taking food from your hand… the next minute they’re crowding in like, “Excuse me, ma’am, we are not finished visiting with you.”
I could have stayed there all afternoon.

More Than Just Flamingos

The gardens were full of old Florida charm. Peacocks strolling like they owned the place. Seagulls swooping in to see what was going on. Lush greenery everywhere.

But let’s be honest… the flamingos stole the show.
And You Know What That Means…
Oh yes.
You know I cannot have an experience like that and not turn it into scrapbook pages.
I’m already dreaming up fabulous flocking flamingo layouts — bold pink backgrounds, tropical greens, maybe a little shimmer, and definitely some playful titles.
Because that’s what we do, right?
We don’t just live the memories.
We scrap the memories.
And these flamingos are absolutely getting their own pages.
Moments like this deserve more than living on a phone. They deserve patterned paper, layered embellishments, journaling about how they nibbled my hand, and maybe even a little flamingo flair tucked into the corner.
Stand tall.
Add the pink.
Scrap the flamingos.
Now tell me — have you ever fed one? And if you have flamingo paper in your stash… it might be time to pull it out.
