Bossing Up Your Embossing: 7 Ways to Use the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder

If you’ve been following along with my Wednesday Night Live series, you know I love sharing fun, creative techniques—and this week was no exception! I featured the gorgeous new Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder (coming soon to Stampin’ Up! Online Exclusives!) and taught SEVEN different ways to get more from just one folder.

Yes, one folder… endless looks! Here’s a peek at what we covered:

🌻 1. Classic 3D Embossing

Sometimes simple is stunning. We started with the basics—just running plain white cardstock through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to let that bold sunflower texture shine.

🎨 2. Embossed Colored Cardstock

This is a quick and easy way to add rich texture to your projects without any extra steps. Try it on all your favorite colors—especially darker shades for a dramatic look.

🖌️ 3. Embossed + Painted with Ink

We embossed white cardstock, then used Blending Brushes and ink pads to paint the raised areas. It gives a soft, hand-colored look that really makes those sunflower petals pop.

🖤 4. Ink the Folder Before Embossing

Want a bold, graphic effect? Ink one side of the embossing folder before adding your cardstock and running it through. This “letterpress” technique pushes the ink into the debossed areas and leaves the raised design uninked.

✨ 5. Foil Embossing – Gold & Silver

Embossing foil sheets adds a whole new level of WOW. The sunflower texture is sharp and eye-catching on metallic paper, making it perfect for special occasions, holiday cards, or elegant accents.

🗂️ 6. Embossing Designer Series Paper

Yep—you can emboss patterned paper too! It adds gorgeous dimension and a unique twist to your favorite DSP. I recommend tone-on-tone prints or subtle patterns for best results.

🌀 7. Faux Ink Embossing

This technique gives the illusion of ink without actually inking anything! Use Blending Brushes after embossing to softly highlight the raised areas. It’s subtle, artsy, and so pretty.

Whether you’re a clean-and-simple crafter or love getting inky, this folder can do it all—and I had a blast showing just how versatile it can be.
